Ten new students moved into the Courtyard Muncie on Sunday, Jan. 8 to start down a new road toward a more empowered life that includes meaningful employment. The students each began one of four ten-week vocational training programs that include:
- Housekeeping: Heart of the House (Hotel)
- Host/Server Assistant (Restaurant)
- Environmental Services (Healthcare)
- Patient Transport (Healthcare)
After a full week of orientation, and now heading into their first month of hands-on skills development, each student is quickly progressing toward preparing for internships at Courtyard Muncie, Thr3e Wise Men Brewing Co., and IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital which will begin by Feb. 20. In addition, students have been matched with tutors, fitness and community mentors to help them continue to grow in their abilities to access the community and enjoy all that EGTI’s person-centered program has to offer. EGTI strives to help each student not only be job ready, but life ready.
