The Arc of Indiana Receives 2016 Innovation Award for Development of EGTI “Teaching Hotel”

Indianapolis, IN – Centric Indy announced today the winners of the 2016 Indiana Innovation Awards. An executive panel of judges sorted and analyzed 30 finalists from this year’s nomination list to select just 8 of Indiana’s best new innovations.

Winning innovations were judged on how well it meets an unmet need in the market, how unique it is, what new value was created for the end user and what financial evidence or market acceptance information does the innovation have to support it.

Now in its sixth year, the Indiana Innovation Awards seek to recognize those individuals and organizations who are successfully leading the innovation charge in our state. The official 2016 Indiana Innovation Award winning innovations are:

Edwin is the world’s first Smart Duck; an app-connected toy who entertains and teaches children. It is brought to life by a proprietary motion and sound technology platform called SQUACK (TM).

Erskine Green Training InstituteArc of Indiana (Indianapolis and Muncie, IN)

The Arc of Indiana developed the country’s first “Teaching Hotel,” to provide all people with disabilities a postsecondary education opportunity in hospitality, food service, or healthcare support.

JB1 Extrication SlidesJB Works (Carlisle, IN)

The JB1 Extrication Slide is a coal mine rescue device for elevated machine operators. Assembly and rescue of a victim can now be accomplished in seconds.

PassWhiz Digital Hall Pass SystemPassWhiz (Noblesville, IN)

Developed by a Noblesville high school student, this app-based hall pass system replaces traditional paper-based systems with a digital platform.
